Ogre

Pakistan - Karakorum 1999, Ogre (7285m). Its South Buttress was the objective of Alexander, Thomas, Toni Gutsch and Jan Mersch.
After the first ascent of the Ogre via the West Ridge, more than 15 expeditions have failed to reach the summit - for 25 years the top of the Ogre has remained virgin. The chances to get to the summit are low, but this fact makes the mountain even more attractive.
As had happened to so many teams before, bad weather forced them to retreat again and again. The fourth and last attempt ended in deteriorating weather. On the day before leaving basecamp Thomas and Alexander climbed the Southwest Face of Latok IV (6450m) on a single day in alpine style.
