Latok II

After a first attempt two years before Alexander came back to the Wes Face of Latok II (7108m) in 1997. The 2200- metre- high Wes Face is one of the most challenging lines in the Himalayas: an at least 1000- metre- high vertical granite face at an altitude of between 6000 and 7000 metres. Nobody had climbed such difficulties at such an altitude before. Alexander, Thomas, Toni Gutsch and the American Conrad Anker had to spend 2 weeks in the vertical world of the West Face before they could reach the top on July 19th. Their route Tsering Mosong: 5.11a/A3 at 7000m.
