El Niño
After the South Buttress and the Southwest Face hve been freed, the Southeast Face of El Capitan is the big challenge.
For the length of one kilometer there is no freeclimb at all, featureless and overhanging granite awaits the aspirants.
In 1998 Alexander and Thomas visit the Valley with the aim of finding a solution to what is called impossible. In fact,
they canīt free one of the established lines but create a new route which is a combination of existing routes and new
variations: El Nino.
30 pitches with difficulties up to 5.13b and spectacular climbing like the breathtakingly exposed Black Cave and the
bottomless chimney of the Dolphin.
