cross town traffic
the washington coloumn is just one of the smaller formations in yosemite valley. nevertheless, its steep faces offer
excellent climbing. for a long period astroman' (5.11c) - which is known as one of the best climbs in the world - was
the only freeclimb on that wall.
to the left of 'astroman' there is an long and leaning system of overhanging dihedrals. on may 24th, alexander
redpointed along this obvious line another freeclimb on wasington coloumnīs east face. 'cross town traffic' (5.13a)
is a combination of the exisiting routes 'prow' and 'electric ladyland' and joins later 'astroman' to exit the wall.
just a few days after the american rob miller opened with 'quantum mechanics' (5.13a) the third freeclimb on that beautiful wall.
