The world hardest routes

Climbing at the cutting edge is an extremely dynamic and powerful sport - physically and mentally. Climbing the world's hardest routes needs special techniques and enormous power resources. The German Wolfgang Güllich was one of the first climbers who transferred training-techniques from other, highly developed professional sports to climbing. Therefore he became the first to climb a route graded F9a: 'Action Directe'. One year later, in 1992, Alexander became the second person to climb a route of that grade when he opened his route 'Om'. Till 1996 he put much of his energy into pushing the difficulties in sportclimbing, with 'Open Air' he established most likely the hardest route in the sportclimbing world of that time. The three hardest ascents are:

'Om' 1992 9a Berchtesgaden, Bavaria
'Weiße Rose' 1994 9a Schleierwasserfall, Tyrol
'Open Air' 1996 9a+ Schleierwasserfall, Tyrol
