Free Solo
Dent du Géant, 4013m

South Face

At the 27th of July, Alexander Huber 'free soloed' the South Face of Dent du Géant. Prior to the ascent, Alexander spent three days of climbing the route in order to prepare himself for the 'free solo'. The challenge is by certain not to be found in the technical difficulties or in the length, but in the exposure of the route, which is situated in the high alpine environment of Montblanc.

The 4013 meters high Dent du Géant is one of the most remarkable summits of the Alps. The 200 meters high South Face was first climbed in 1935 by Burgasser and Leitz and is one of the most beautiful and steepest walls on one of the high mountains of the Alps. When free climbed, the route has difficulties as high as 6b+.
